Cookie and local storage policy

1. What they are and why we do not show a banner

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Local storage (localStorage, sessionStorage and IndexedDB) does something similar: it lets the site remember data on your device from one page to the next or between visits.

VocalTools only stores on your device what is strictly necessary for the service to work: your language, your session, your preferences and the practice you do without signing in. We do not use third-party cookies or scripts, nor advertising, tracking or social media ones, and fonts are served from our own site. Since nothing is optional, we do not ask for separate consent with a banner: it would mean asking permission for something we do not do.

2. What we store in your browser

This is the complete inventory. Keys that say "<account id>" carry your account's internal identifier, so the practice of each account that signs in on the same browser is kept separate.

3. Usage measurement

To learn which tools and lessons are used and improve the service, we count a few events: a tool or lesson was opened, a payment was started, an account was created. Each event stores its name, the page, the language and whether someone was signed in or not.

This measurement is anonymous and is reviewed as daily totals: it does not store your account identifier or your email, does not use cookies or identifiers on your device and is not shared with third parties. Your IP address is used only momentarily to prevent abuse and is not stored.

4. How to delete it

You can delete this site's cookies and data from your browser settings at any time. If you do, you are signed out, the default language comes back and the practice you did without signing in is lost (your account's practice stays saved in it).

Signing out deletes the Firebase session. Deleting your account removes the data we keep on our servers; what remains in your browser you delete from its settings.
