Vocal warm-up
Prepare body, breath and vocal folds in 12-15 minutes, moving from light to demanding without skipping stages.
Session routine
14 min total- 1Neck, shoulder and jaw stretches; two yawn-sighs.2 min
- 2Low breaths and an even 'sss' to activate support.2 min
- 3Humming in the middle register, descending and comfortable.3 min
- 4Lip trill on the five-note scale, moving up by semitones.4 min
- 5Arpeggios on open vowels ('ma', 'la'), approaching the edges of the range without forcing.3 min
Exercises
Five-note scale
Lip trill first, vowel afterwards. Start in C and move up by half steps until you brush the comfortable top; then come down the same way.
Major arpeggio
1-3-5-8-5-3-1 on 'ma'. The octave leap must land clean: if it cracks, go back one semitone.
Soft siren
Glissando from low to high on a closed 'u', like a distant siren: two or three passes to connect the registers.
Weekly progression
- Before every practice: the full routine; never sing repertoire cold.
- Demanding days (mornings, dry air): extend the lip-trill block before moving to vowels.
- Weekend: run the whole warm-up guided by the app's Vocalization patterns.
Checklist
- No exercise hurt or itched.
- I reached the arpeggio with the voice already awake — I didn't use it to wake it up.
- The final high notes came out without pushing.
- The whole warm-up took under 15 minutes.
